Can prostate supplements raise PSA? For saw palmetto, NIH says it does not appear to affect PSA readings. Other herbs have not been checked in the sources we read. What does a PSA test measure?
PSA is a protein made by normal prostate cells as well as cancer cells (NCI, PSA Test Fact Sheet).
A high number is a prompt for more questions, not a diagnosis. About 6 to 7 in 100 men get a false positive each screening round, and only about 25% of men biopsied for a high PSA turn out to have cancer (NCI, PSA Test Fact Sheet).

Do other herbs in a blend raise PSA?
We do not know. The NCI fact sheet says nothing about herbs, and we found no PSA study for the other label lines (NCI, PSA Test Fact Sheet).

Should I stop my supplements before a PSA test?

Can a supplement hide a high PSA?

Why did my PSA go up if I feel fine?

What PSA number is considered abnormal?
Above 4.0 ng/mL is generally called abnormal, but no single cutoff separates normal from abnormal (NCI, PSA Test Fact Sheet).
Does age change PSA screening advice?
USPSTF calls it an individual choice at 55 to 69 and recommends against PSA screening from 70 (USPSTF, Prostate Cancer Screening).
